Courtney Keeling Greenlaw was born and raised in the San Francisco East Bay Area. Her extensive contact with the arts led her to win a scholarship for performing arts from the Concord Pavilion Associates. While obtaining her BA in Theatre Arts and English Literature from Northern California's Humboldt State University, she was chosen to be a member of Omicron Delta Kappa Leadership Association, was nominated twice to participate in the Irene Ryan National College Theatre Festival and graduated with honors in 2001.
After returning to the Bay Area, she began working with middle and high school students on English Literature, Spanish Language and Theatre Arts as a private tutor, a public high school teacher and a collaborator with the San Francisco Shakespeare Festival. While concurrently teaching high school and earning her California State Single Subject Teaching Credential in English and Spanish from Chapman University, she continued to foster her love of the arts by working for local theatre companies as an actress, designer and box office manager, and volunteering extensively for the ballet company with which she had danced for 10 years as a child and adolescent.
After having experimented with living in Latin America, she chose Europe to be her definitive home, moving to Milan, Italy, in 2006. Since then she has worked in Italian, Spanish and English as a freelance Language Service Provider and business skills trainer. She has trained several C-level managers for top Italian and international companies, as well as taught the Foundation Year English for Academic Purposes course for the European School of Economics – University of Buckingham – Milan, collaborated extensively with Fondazione Politecnico di Milano, and prepared myriad students for admission to British and American Universities. For a time, she owned her own foreign language school, managing 23 teachers between Milan and Rome, offering courses in 5 languages as well as translation and interpretation services. She has worked as a successful translator, subtitler, transcriber and interpreter in addition to providing language and presentation skills courses in companies in the greater Milan area. She is a member of Mediterranean Editors and Translators and the Associazione Italiana Formatori (Italian Trainers’ Association).
In 2017, she obtained her MSc in Project Management from the University of Liverpool, graduating with distinction and receiving the School of Management’s “Dissertation of the Year Award” for her thesis. She now appears as a spokesperson on the university’s website, as a guest speaker in one of its preparatory webinars for new students and was interviewed by “The Guardian” newspaper about her experience in the MSc program.
She recently returned to dedicating herself full-time to the Linguistic field, ending a collaboration as Executive Assistant to the CEO of a dental, medical and aesthetic clinic in Milan, the largest fully privately funded clinic of its kind in Italy. As part of that role, she worked as the project manager for the clinic’s CRM changeover, internal ESL instructor for managers and trainer for all staff on use of the new software.
Passionate about travel, she has visited 50 countries thus far, including Ecuador's Galapagos Islands, the Peruvian Amazon, Bali, Botswana, South Africa, Nicaragua and India. She scuba dives, rides horses, practices yoga, loves dancing, and is currently learning how to sail and oil paint. She is a fan of theatre, cinema, classic literature, all types of music and animals.
